Dear Dr XXX,

I am writing on behalf of Dr EK whom I met this summer

while participating in Pacific Partnership 2010. Pacific Partnership

is a civic and humanitarian mission of the United States Navy. Our

veterinary team worked in four villages and towns in the Maluku

Islands of Indonesia to assess the veterinary needs of these

communities and to provide assistance and education to the villagers

and to the agriculture ministry staffs.

It was always a pleasure to work with Dr K as she is a very

friendly and engaging person. She helped bring our team together and

helped develop good relationships quickly with our hosts. Since we

only had a few days in each location this was invaluable. She was

also a strong voice for maintaining good veterinary medical practices

in a challenging environment. We had limited time and resources,

language and cultural barriers.

Our most valuable contribution was providing educational

presentations on topics requested by our hosts. Dr K gave a

great talk on artificial insemination that focused on the challenges

that our Indonesian hosts were facing as they try to improve their

livestock productivity. Her creativity shone as she used shadow

puppets very effectively to demonstrate proper techniques.

Dr K is a veterinarian of good character and professional

skills and professional ethics.
